Carl J. "Cookie" Guzik, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, where he had been a hospice patient for one day. He was the son of the late Helen Kocur Guzik. He was born in Shamokin on November 1, 1936. His family moved to Arnots Addition- St. Clair when he was very young and he remained in the family home for his lifetime. Carl had fond memories of growing up with his large extended Kocur Family and also living in Arnot's. He was proud of his Polish Heritage and enjoyed polka music and ethnic foods. Carl was a 1954 Graduate of St. Clair High School and then graduated from the Ford School of Business. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during active duty from 1955-1958. He was an A/1C Air Policeman with the 92nd Bombardment Wing H (SAC) stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base Ohio until he was assigned to French Morocco, Africa. Following active duty, Carl served three years in the Air Force Reserves. He worked 38 years in office and traffic/transportation manangement in mining and manufacturing. He retired from Tamaqua Cable in 1998. In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by his brother, George, in infancy. He is survived by cousins. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, Frackville. As per his wishes, Carl's funeral service will be private. Carl is in the care of the James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair.
