Dr. Jean A. Yankosky, MD, 96, of Pottsville passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 at her home. She was born in St. Clair on April 15, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Metro and Ella Yankosky.
Dr. Jean was a member of the former St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon. She was a 1948 Graduate of St. Clair High School. Dr. Jean graduated from Penn State University for Pre-med. She was accepted to Women's College in Philadelphia, where she completed her training. Dr. Jean had her general practice in Port Carbon for many years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Anna Yankosky and Mary Yankosky.
Dr. Jean is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Shuman, wife of Harold of Pottsville, her grandson, Vaughn Shuman, husband of Tori of Pottsville, and her great-granddaughter Riley Jean, who is on the way.
A Religious Service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair at 11AM with Monsignor William Glosser, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:30AM to 11AM Monday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
