Elizabeth Frantz Obituary

Elizabeth L. "Betty" Frantz, 98, of St. Clair passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. Born February 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James P. Brennan and Elizabeth (Diener) Brennan. Betty grew up on Diener's Hill, named after her great-grandparents John and Caroline Diehl Diener, the first settlers there. Betty graduated from St. Clair High School, class of 1943. She also graduated from Pottsville Business College in 1947 and attended Penn State Schuylkill Campus. Betty was employed by S.S. Kresge, Pottsville; the St. Clair School District as a cafeteria worker and teacher's aide; and from many years at the H.L. Miller Outlet Store, Port Carbon. She also served as a member of the St. Clair PTA; a Den Mother of Brownie Pack #190, St. Clair; Secretary/ Treasurer of the St. Clair-Wade United Methodist Church; Treasurer of the St. Clair Senior Citizens Association; and a member of the Orwigsburg Order of the Eastern Star. Betty enjoyed tending her garden and taking long walks around town. Her faith and appreciation for family and living the simple life inspired her creativity when, later in life, she became an accomplished poet. Several of Betty's poems were published on poetry.com, including God's Paintbrush, No One Has Special Claim, and In Simplicity. Betty's steadfast presence, dedication, and service in greatly missed. Betty is survived by her two sons: Philip S. Frantz, Jr. and his wife, Donna, St. Clair; and Gerard V. Frantz, Sr. and his wife Dolores, Mount Carmel; three grandchildren: Joshua J. Frantz, his wife Yvonne and daughter Brianne, West Norriton, PA; Gerard V. Frantz, Jr. and his wife Ellexis, Union City, CA; and Jennifer L. Frantz and her companion George Hoy, Pottsville; a brother Gerard V. Brennan, Sr., Diener's Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip S. Frantz, Sr.; three sisters: Mary F. Brinich, Bernadette Brennan, and Jean M. Brennan; two brothers: Patrick C. Brennan and James A. Brennan, and several nieces and nephews. A Religious Service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair at 11AM with Rev. John C. Wallace, officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30AM to 11AM on Thursday morning. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, St. Clair. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the St. Clair-Wade United Methodist Church or Pottsville First United Methodist Church. James H.
