Michael H. Houseknecht, 83, of St. Clair passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at his home. He was born in Pottsville on February 1, 1941. Michael was the son of the late Harry Houseknecht
and Antoinette (Belmonte) Houseknecht. He is survived by his wife, Sally (Schwartz) Houseknecht, to whom he was married for 57 years.
Michael was a 1958 Graduate of St. Clair High School. He then attended Bloomsburg University, where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 1966. He then furthered his education at Kutztown
University, where he achieved his Masters Degree in 1972. Michael was a teacher at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit. He was in the United States Army during Peacetime.
Michael is preceded in death by a brother, Jack "Red" Houseknecht.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his son, Michael Houseknecht, fiance of Nancy Haslam of St. Clair, his daughter, Marcy Yacobenas, wife of Matthew of Tamaqua, his sister,
Ann Marie O'Boyle of Minersville, his granddaughter, Sarah Howell, fiance of Dane Lowell of Tamaqua, his great-grandson, Payton and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair at 10AM with Rev. Jack Culbert, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited
to call from 8:30AM to 10AM Monday morning at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family would prefer
contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, http://www.alz.org. James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair is entrusted with arrangements.
